A little bit about me...
Hi and welcome to Heartland Hypnobabies! I'm Rebecca (pictured with my husband of 11 years, Christopher, my 7 year old daughter Johanna and 3 year old son, Eames.) I love teaching Hypnobabies classes in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska! I've been certified and teaching Hypnobabies for six years, and I'm so privileged to get to work with such amazing couples!
After taking an in-person Hypnobabies class in Nashville, and giving birth to my daughter in 2009, I knew that I wanted to teach other women how to use Hypnobabies for comfort during birth! I absolutely loved my birth, and used my Hypnobabies tools again in 2013 with the birth of my son. I am passionate about patient autonomy, birthing choices and informed decision making!
I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Journalism (fancy, expensive piece of paper), and I am a certified Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor, as well as a Hypno-doula and Rebozo enthusiast! I've completed 50 hours of hypnosis coursework, as well as a rigid childbirth education training program through Hypnobabies, attending the training conference in Cypress, California in July, 2011. Each year I go through a re-certification process to maintain my knowledge of birth and how to assist families on their journey.
What is NEW at Hypnobabies?
Hypnobabies is a 6 week, 21-hour, complete childbirth education course covering not only using self-hypnosis for pain elimination in birthing, but the birthing process, prenatal diet and exercise, and benefits, risks and alternatives for many common obstetric procedures. Hypnobabies changes the language surrounding birth. You will no longer be in "labor" you'll be in your "birthing time," and instead of "contractions" you'll be experiencing "pressure waves." Since birth is a normal physiological process, we can overcome the negative associations many of us have from previous births or today's media coverage of birth in popular shows, like "A Baby Story." With Hypnobabies, you will retrain your mind to view birth as a positive, comfortable, joyful experience.
What is Hypnosis?
Many people are confused by the word hypnosis. Often the only type of "hypnosis" they've heard of or seen comes from their experience with stage hypnosis at large group events or (in my case) post-prom. Hypnobabies not only provides the most up-to-date information in birthing in the United States, but it teaches you how to use self-hypnosis for childbirth....and as you will learn, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are always in control, and always aware of your surroundings-sometimes even more-so because you aren't having to fight the fear-tension-pain cycle. Hypnosis is a state of mind that all of us are in many times each day (yes, even if you don't practice self-hypnosis, you've experienced it) when waking up, falling asleep, daydreaming, watching a screen of ANY KIND (television, computer) and driving. In Hypnobabies class, you'll learn successful medical hypnotherapy techniques and you'll learn how to create your own hypno-anesthesia for a more comfortable birth, using self-hypnosis scripts and CD's. The Hypnobabies website, has more information on the program, along with FAQ's and downloadable material. I'm happy to answer any questions about hypnosis, Hypnobabies, or classes! Thanks for stopping by!
Sincerely,
